Exclusive: Untouchable Man Utd star'is available'for transfer this summer despite having leadership role under Ruben Amorim

It is no secret that Ineos would be prepared to sell most of the Manchester United squad this summer; however, the sales list remains empty for this transfer window.

No player currently at Old Trafford can have complaints if they were sold in the summer transfer window, considering the disaster that was 2024-25.

Manchester United recorded a worst-ever Premier League finish, which left Ruben Amorim desiring plenty of changes in his squad for next season.

Already, United have released three players in Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans, and Victor Lindelof. While Ineos has signed Matheus Cunha as the only confirmed addition, as we near the last full week of June.

However, as usual, the transfer window generally heats up in July, and plenty more movements are expected around Carrington before the season starts in August.

Now, a player who appeared untouchable under Amorim has been made available.

Manchester United prepared to sell Diogo Dalot

Some big names are expected to be sold this summer, with Alejandro Garnacho told he can find a new club, arguably being the biggest shock of the summer, considering how he was considered 12 months ago.

Now, it appears that United will also be willing to sanction a sale of Diogo Dalot, as Graeme Bailey has told United in Focus.

The situation around Dalot is an interesting one, as he is not a great fit for Amorim’s system at wing-back. Dalot is not like Noussair Mazraoui, who can play a variety of roles, including centre-back.

Next season, with the transfer business done by United, Dalot would likely stack up as the second-choice right wing-back, behind Amad.

United in Focus understands that Dalot is therefore available this summer, and United will not stand in his way if an offer arrives.

In December, United in Focus reported that Dalot had suitors across Europe, including Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. A move to Spain is off the cards now with Trent Alexander-Arnold joining, but Bayern may still be an option.

Diogo Dalot becoming a leader at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim

It is true that Dalot doesn’t have a natural role in this system, Amorim is committed to playing with him; however, selling him would go further weaken United in terms of leadership.

Over the past 18 months, Dalot has become an on-field leader, as he explained, he has been working on his leadership, in an interview with the BBC, reacting to comments from Amorim criticising United’s lack of leaders.

“I said after… it obviously pinched me, that statement from him, and it’s something that I’ve been trying to take out of myself a little bit more these couple of years.

“We have great leaders in the dressing room. Sometimes, we don’t see it, but we are trying to help our teammates. If he feels like that, we have to look at it and look at ourselves as well.”

Selling Dalot, no matter his leadership, would be the right call, though, based on his suitability under Amorim.
