Leeds United attacking midfielder Sam Greenwood is surplus to requirements this summer, and is attracting interest from both Sunderland and Leicester City.
If Leeds are able to cash in on squad players for decent fees without drastically impacting the starting lineup, they could put themselves in a much stronger PSR position.
Three players from last season’s squad that spent time on loan elsewhere in the Championship could be subject to permanent transfers that boost the coffers.

Sunderland and Leicester City interested in Leeds United’s Sam Greenwood
The Daily Mail report this week that Leeds attacking midfielder Sam Greenwood is attracting interest from both newly-promoted Sunderland and recently-relegated Leicester City this month.

Greenwood spent the last two seasons on loan in the Championship, first with Middlesbrough and then most recently with Preston, boasting an identical return in both seasons with five goals and three assists apiece.
Now, the versatile set piece specialist could be on the move again, with Leeds likely to accept offers for his exit this summer following promotion.
Leicester or Sunderland could hand Leeds a very handy PSR and wage boost with Greenwood purchase
Greenwood isn’t going to command a huge fee for his Elland Road exit like Victor Orta may have hoped for when the club signed him in 2020 for £1.5million, but a sale would still be an ideal development.
The 23-year-old’s remaining book value in 2022 stood at £500,000, which was then spread over the course of his contract extension until 2026 – meaning he’s currently valued at an estimated £125,000.
Leeds’ reported asking price stands at £3-4million, per the YEP, but even if Leeds break even on the fee they paid, they’ll be getting almost all profit from his exit.
The big boost from letting the attacking midfielder leave would be the wages cleared from our bill, as Capology claim he’s earning around £30,000-per-week, equating to another £1.56million across the final year of his deal.
For a player not part of the plans, that’s a sizeable portion of the budget, alongside Joe Gelhardt and Darko Gyabi, that could be freed up for new signings to pad out the squad.
