**[Everton Women](https://www.vavel.com/en/data/everton-women)** have this afternoon confirmed that Sara Holmgaard will leave the club on a free transfer when her contract expires at the end of the month.
The left-back joined the Toffees in August 2022, at the same time as her twin, Karen, though her debut did not come until January 2023 after spending the first half of the campaign on loan with Fortuna Hjørring.
She notched up three goals and four assists in 19 WSL appearances last term, a steady improvement on the 26-year-old’s output and playing time from the year previous.
Speaking on Holmgaard’s departure, Everton boss and fellow Dane, Brian Sørensen, sung her praises.
_“Sara has been a top professional since she arrived at the Club and has shone on and off the pitch this season. She has enjoyed an impressive year at left-back, whilst supporting her twin Karen through a tough time on the sidelines with injury._

Karen had spent 10 months sidelined with injury and, in May, praised Sara for being her “biggest support system over the past few months.”
