Derby County are lining up a move for Liverpool defender Owen Beck on loan, sources have told Football Insider.

With John Eustace having left his role at Blackburn Rovers to take charge at Pride Park back in February, the Rams manager is no stranger to the left-back.

Last summer, Eustace signed Beck on loan for Blackburn, with the Liverpool left-back impressing during his time on loan at Ewood Park.

In total, he made 25 appearances in all competitions for the Lancashire outfit, scoring once in a 2-0 home win over Luton Town back in December.

Eustace took something of a gamble when he made the move to Derby earlier this year, at a time when Blackburn occupied a Championship play-off place.

At the same time the Rams found themselves fighting to avoid relegation from the Championship, with the appointment of the 45-year-old ultimately helping them stay up on the final day.

Blackburn meanwhile were forced to settle for a seventh-place finish in the final standings, meaning they missed out on a play-off spot by two points.

Eustace will now be focused on improving his squad at Pride Park, with Football Insider reporting earlier this summer that Derby have had a bid rejected for Hull right-back Cody Drameh.

The former Leeds man is another player Eustace is familiar with after managing him while in charge at Birmingham City.

It is also understood that he would now love to reunite with Beck after working with him at Ewood Park, with his side now lining up a move for the Liverpool youngster.

Liverpool prospect to benefit from another loan move

To date, Beck has only ever made three appearances at first-team level for his parent club, who will be looking to defend their Premier League title next season.

With Liverpool closing in on the signing of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, the 22-year-old is unlikely to add too many more appearances to his tally in the coming campaign.

He will therefore be keen to secure a loan move this summer that allows him to play regularly over the next 12 months.

Prior to his spell with Blackburn, the left-back had also gained senior experience during loan spells with Bolton Wanderers and Dundee FC in the previous two seasons.
