Speaking on the Gil’s Arena podcast, the former NBA champion and current ESPN analyst criticized the franchise’s stance, calling it disrespectful toward one of the game’s greatest scorers.
“They f**ked me up the other day when they said they have no interest in getting Kevin Durant,” Perkins said. “I was like, What? What you… like, who are you? And what have y'all done as a franchise, in the last 52… Like, y'all ain't won a championship in 52 years.”
“Who are y'all to say that y'all don't have interest in one of the greatest scorers to ever touch the damn basketball?”
Perkins made it clear that this isn't just about accolades from the past — Durant is still producing at an elite level.
“Motherf**ker who still averaging about 27 points,” Perkins continued. “Shooting 50-40-90, to say y'all don't have interest?”
New York did reportedly make a trade offer for Durant at February’s trade deadline, but have since backed off.
Last season, Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 62 games with the Suns, shooting 52.7% from the field and 43.0% from three-point range.
