Reports suggesting that Serie A team Roma have offered £15m to secure Moroccan international, [Nayef Aguerd](https://www.claretandhugh.info/crazy-aguerd-swap-report-ignores-an-obvious-solution/) are way off the mark. The centre-back has informed West Ham of his desire to leave, and has even indicated he would prefer to skip pre-season training in two weeks.
Currently earning a reported weekly salary of £50k a week, Aguerd is seeking increased terms as he enters the twilight of his career. With a contract that still has two years to run, West Ham are aiming to recoup a significant portion of the €35m they paid Stade Rennais in July 2022.
Claret and Hugh’ associate editor Sean Whetstone’s recent article suggesting that only 75% of funds raised from player sales will be reinvested for purchases would equate to £11.25m being added to the transfer fund. Laughable, meaning it is more than likely the London club will be looking for a considerably higher fee.
A number of clubs have shown interest, following a successful loan period in La Liga where Aguerd made 36 appearances for Real Sociedad.
Juventus have offered Daniele Rugani in a player swap deal, which was swiftly rejected by West Ham.
Unless Aguerd lower his wage demands, and with West Ham yet to receive an acceptable offer, he could yet be appearing in a Claret & Blue shirt for the opening game against Sunderland on the 16th August at the Stadium of Light.
