Man United interested in former Premier League midfielder

Manchester United will face fierce rivals Arsenal on the opening weekend of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

The Red Devils finished 15th in the top flight table last term after a disastrous campaign, meaning they won’t compete in Europe next season.

Ruben Amorim will therefore want to bolster his squad this summer, and United have already completed the signing of forward Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

Now, it appears that the Manchester outfit are interested in a former Premier League midfielder.

According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United are interested in Bayern Munich’s Joao Palhinha.

It is claimed that the Bundesliga champions are open to the idea of selling Palhinha just a year after he joined the club from Fulham.

Bayern are said to value the Portuguese at around £25-30 million, which would represent a loss on the price they paid to sign the midfielder from the Whites.

As well as Man United, West Ham United, Nottingham Forest and Benfica are also said to be interested in the player, while his former side Fulham are also credited with an interest.

Palhinha has made just 24 appearances since joining Bayern last summer, starting just six Bundesliga matches as Vincent Kompany’s side cruised to the top flight title.

The report claims that Bayern are unwilling to allow the central midfielder to depart Bavaria on loan and will only entertain the idea of a permanent sale.

Despite United’s interest in the Portugal international, the report claims that the Red Devils will only move for the player if a potential deal aligns with their financial expectations.

During his time in England, Palhinha made a total of 79 appearances for Fulham before departing to join Bayern.
