Man United sent clear£72m message as transfer wish revealed

Rasmus Hojlund's arrival at Manchester United for a fee rising to £72m was always going to be a gamble. And it's a gamble that has backfired massively.

The callow striker enjoyed a respectable first season at Old Trafford, scoring 16 goals in all competitions. But his second term at the club has been one of regression and frustration, with Hojlund scoring a paltry four league goals as United limped to a dire 15th-place finish.

As revealed by the Manchester Evening News, Inter Milan are considering making a move for Hojlund as the beaten Champions League finalists seek to accelerate a rebuild of their squad. And it's news that will be seemingly welcomed by the majority of fans.

The Manchester Evening News recently conducted a survey in which readers were asked whether they wanted the club to sell Hojlund this summer, loan him out or keep him. Over 22,000 readers to part in the survey, with 62% of the opinion that Hojlund should be sold this summer. Just 14% want him to remain at the club and 24% think he should be loaned out.

We also asked readers which position they want the club to prioritise strengthening if a deal for Bryan Mbeumo is completed. Unsurprisingly, 59% of people want a striker to be the priority.

26% think a new goalkeeper should be top of the wish list, with just 8% of readers thinking a central midfielder should be prioritised. The other options on the survey were centre-back (2%), wing-back (1%) and attacking midfield (4%).
