According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, United are ready to sign Atlanta goalkeeper Carnesecchi to replace Onana if he joins Monaco during this summer window. Carnesecchi differs vastly from Onana, who plays as a ball-playing goalkeeper and excels in distribution.
The Atalanta goalkeeper prioritises shot-stopping and other traditional aspects in goalkeeping over the modern style and preferences. Atalanta played a tactical philosophy under Gian Piero Gasperini last season, which is similar to the philosophy that Ruben Amorim intends to establish at United.
Carnesecchi should find it easy to adapt to the demands of Amorim, something Onana has struggled to accomplish. Rest assured, the majority of the fanbase believes that United and Onana parting ways is beneficial for both of them.
