The under-19 European Championships are over for Tommy Setford and Lucas Nygaard as England and Denmark failed to progress to the semi-finals.
After the Young Lions pulled off a stunning comeback to draw with Germany last time out, they faced Group B leaders Netherlands with Setford between the sticks.
The Dutch took a 3-0 lead into half-time and despite a quick response from England’s Ethan Wheatley, a comeback was not on the cards this time around. The final score of 4-2 would still been enough to see England progress had it not been for Germany’s stoppage time winner against Norway in the group’s other match.
Nygaard played all 90 minutes for Denmark following a 5-0 success against Montenegro on Monday. However, the Danes weren’t able to see off Romania for the final spot in the semis and the tie finished 3-0.
