Leeds United chiefs are hoping to bring in at least five core players this summer, of which Jaka Bijol is one.
A first class striker, goalkeeper and left-back seem necessary while midfield is also important given there are currently only three realistic options there following the release of Josuha Guilavogui and return of loanee Joe Rothwell to parent club Bournemouth.
Darko Gyabi returns to the fold after impressing in a lacklustre Plymouth Argyle side which was relegated from the Championship but surely the Premier League comes too soon for him just yet.
Furthermore, a left winger might be needed while back up at full-back and centre-back would be ideal. It shows the size of the task before Leeds and how much more business could still be done despite a good early start.
Leeds Live understands that United are not yet close to a third signing as things stand but tireless work is being carried out by the club’s recruitment team to work towards their next targets.
Club insiders have outlined that part of the reason why the bulk of transfers look set to be done post-July is less so to do with spending limits - although that is clearly a significant factor - but more to do with the fact that those being targeted have rival interest.
As a result, players will take more time to mull over their future and deliberate over what their next step is. United are taking an ambitious approach to the market and will make a move for an esteemed player, even if the chances of landing them are slim, should a sliver of interest be shown.

That explains the £22million bid for Strasbourg midfielder Habib Diarra, who is thought to have a lot of clubs circling him. Where his future lies, having been told he can leave the French club, might not reach a quick conclusion.
While there is no point grabbing players early in the window for the sake of it and compromising quality as a result, trying to get signings through the door in good time is still important. It’s something Daniel Farke, and all managers, prefer.
It gives a coach time to set in his tactics and establish the hierarchy - and therefore the equilibrium of the squad mood. After all, no player will be utterly thrilled to see a new signing who plays in his position walk through the door.
Such individual morale becomes more volatile the closer to the season it gets - no-one wants the scenario of training all summer believing you will be first choice before a last-gasp signing is brought in to steal your thunder.
While Farke has underlined that he is not ‘a robot’ and understands player emotions, he has also made clear that this is professional football. And at the end of the day, it is his job and the club's status that is on the line.
The benefits of acquiring your players early are clear on several fronts. Firstly it gives time for the new recruits to bed in so by the time the season starts they are settled and feel comfortable.
But it also establishes the hierarchy early on. And if a player who has been usurped creates a negative aura or asks to leave, an exit can be facilitated if their presence will be a hindrance.
For clarity, there is no suggestion of anything like that occurring within the United squad at the moment. But clearly, attaining good morale will be important amid potential - and likely - hardship next season.
Keeping sound team spirit will be crucial. Farke has managed to achieve that throughout his career, which is encouraging. Because ultimately, this might be his best yet last chance to show his acumen as a manager in the Premier League.
