Report: Crystal Palace, Leeds and West Ham want Liverpool centre-back

Liverpool can be grateful they got Virgil van Dijk tied to a new contract before the end of the season. The soon-to-be 34-year-old put pen to paper on a new, two-year deal which will extend his spell at the club to 2027.

While the Reds can plan around Van Dijk for the 2025/26 season and beyond, around him right now there is considerable uncertainty.

Ibrahima Konate’s contract situation is becoming a thorn in the side for club bosses. Out of contract in 2026, the Frenchman has so far refused to sign new terms.

If he doesn’t agree to a new deal, then the Reds might well be tempted to listen to offers this summer for the France international.

Then there’s Jarell Quansah.

Liverpool’s backup centre-back looks set for a move to the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen. The deal will net Liverpool over £30m - a sum which could then be re-invested in the first-team squad.

Joe Gomez tipped for exit

And that brings us to Joe Gomez - the 28-year-old who is celebrating 10 years at Anfield this week.

He has again contributed to a title-winning season - for the second time - but had a reduced role in the squad last term.

Injuries curtailed his involvement but even before that Arne Slot wasn’t convinced to start the England international unless Trent Alexander-Arnold and Konate were unavailable.

Last summer the club were willing to let Gomez go - with Aston Villa and Newcastle interested.

Liverpool willing to accept Gomez exit

And it’s been revealed in TBR Football that there is Premier League interest once again materialising for the centre-back this summer.

“Several Premier League clubs are interested in signing him, namely Crystal Palace, Leeds United, and West Ham,” a report reads.

Moreover, it’s also claimed that Liverpool ARE willing to accept a deal for Gomez should he choose to take an offer elsewhere.

“Liverpool are happy for Gomez to stay, but if the 28-year-old wants to leave, it is a possibility that the club will not stand in his way.”

Guehi in, Gomez out?

With Palace showing interest it does raise the tantalising possibility that Marc Guehi could go the other way - with Liverpool's interest in the England man now declared.

Last year it was reported that Gomez could go for around £45m. But now he’s one year closer to his contract expiry in 2027 and has endured a difficult season from an injury standpoint.

It’s unknown what kind of price the Reds would take for Gomez at this stage but the fact that three Premier League clubs are showing interest is a positive.
