Man United finally get green light to complete transfer Ruben Amorim has been waiting for

Man United could finally get their hands on a new striker this summer

Manchester United could finally be about to move ahead with their attempt to bolster Ruben Amorim's centre-forward options this summer.

Having already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves, United have been working to sign another attacker with Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo close to becoming signing number two. There are also plans to add another option in the final third after United recorded their worst goalscoring season in 51 years.

United finished the Premier League season with -10 goal difference with Bruno Fernandes topping their scoring charts with 19. Centre-forwards Rasmus Hojlund (10) and Joshua Zirkzee (7) failed to hit the heights needed and expected of strikers to grace Old Trafford.

The Manchester Evening News understands that United sources spoke about their desire to come out the blocks this window. After signing Cunha, there has been no more movement despite the desperation for more attacking reinforcements.

Centre-forwards cost a premium but United are anticipated to hand Amorim a talismanic number nine to lead the line next season. In an ideal world, one of Viktor Gyokeres or Victor Osimhen would have been through the door by now, or at the very least close to joining.

That hasn't been the case and after United were rejected by Liam Delap, the hunt for the right candidate goes on. Moves for Gyokeres or Osimhen could still play out but alternatives continue to be suggested, some with Premier League experience and others with an impressive goalscoring record.

Dusan Vlahovic is the new name on their radar and with the Juventus star entering the final year of his contract this summer, the opportunity to sign him has never been greater. The Serbian has scored 56 goals for the Old Lady yet Randal Kolo Muani's permanent move to Turn has added another nail into his coffin.

With talks over a new contract stalling due to Vlahovic's decision not to take a pay cut to stay, United could swoop in. Now, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Juve are plotting a move to replace the 25-year-old and progress in a deal could be the green light that Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada have been waiting for.

Di Marzio has claimed that 'explorative talks' have been held with Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson and his camp over a possible move. Delap's move to Stamford Bridge and the Blues' continued links to Hugo Ekitike and Osimhen means the Senegal international is no longer unsellable.

Serie A champions Napoli are also considering a move for Jackson but they are understood to be prioritising Lorenzo Lucca and Darwin Nunez. Yet should Nunez leave Liverpool for Juventus or Jackson moves to Italy, Vlahovic will be guaranteed to move away from the Allianz Arena and United will finally be able to get their hands on a new striker.
