Marcus Rashford is set to head back to Manchester United for pre-season training if a transfer doesn't come through in the next few weeks, ahead of the club's pre-season tour of the United States.
After a loan spell at Aston Villa for the latter half of the 2024-25 season, 27-year-old Rashford is free to leave Old Trafford permanently this summer. He's one of several players that the Red Devils are keen to shift during the transfer window.
However, with no serious talks underway to sign the United academy product, Rashford might have to kick off pre-season at Carrington.
As initially reported by ESPN, Rashford is said to be 'preparing' for such a scenario with United due back for tests and training next month.

Despite interest from top European clubs like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Juventus, it's reported that United haven't received any formal offers for Rashford, reports the Mirror.

Given his contract runs until 2028, another loan move could be on the cards if no one is willing to seal a permanent deal for the player who is surplus to requirements under Ruben Amorim.
United would, however, prefer a permanent deal for Rashford, who is valued at around £40million. The player's preference is to join a Champions League club.
Earlier in the summer, it was suggested that Rashford's dream move would be to join Barcelona, a club that has been linked with the player extensively over the past year.

However, with the Spanish titans now stepping up their chase for Nico Williams from Athletic Club, such a move seems increasingly unlikely, at least in this transfer window.
United are gearing up for a major shake-up of their squad that fell short in the Premier League last season and are eyeing Bryan Mbeumo as their second summer signing after snapping up Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

Player exits will be needed to free up some wiggle room in the transfer market and it's hoped that additional funds can be raised from the sales of Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho, all of whom appear to have no future at Old Trafford.
