Mohamed Salah has been nothing short of extraordinary at Liverpool.
Since joining from AS Roma in 2017, the Egyptian star has shattered records and established himself as one of the club’s all-time greats.
In his debut season, he scored 44 goals and assisted 16, winning the Golden Boot, PFA Player of the Year, and FWA Footballer of the Year.
Since then, Salah has been consistently performing at the highest of levels, establishing himself as one of the best players in Liverpool history. This past season, Salah was on Ballon d’Or winning form, scoring 34 goals and assisting 23 in 52 games.
Salah has broken all kinds of records at Liverpool; however, Steven Gerrard has named a former Liverpool player who was even better than the 33-year-old.

Steven Gerrard picks Luis Suarez ahead of Mohamed Salah
In an interview with Futcrunch on TikTok, Gerrard was asked to rate and pick the best strikers in world football.
He picked Luis Suarez over the likes of Erling Haaland, Robin van Persie, Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
He also picked him over his former teammate Fernando Torres and most surprisingly, over Salah as well after giving it a thought.
The only striker he picked over Suarez was Karim Benzema, who was eventually his pick for the best striker.
Salah isn’t directly comparable to Suarez or some of the other names, as he primarily plays as a winger rather than a central striker.
He has only featured as a striker in 42 games, yet even then, his output has been exceptional, scoring 34 goals and providing nine assists.
Given the numbers he has produced and the contributions he has made to Liverpool’s success over the years, it was surprising to see Gerrard not pick Salah.
Luis Suarez’s time at Liverpool
There’s no doubt that Suarez was one of the best strikers in the world at his peak.
His time at Liverpool may have been relatively short, but it remains one of the most entertaining spells in Premier League history.
Joining from Ajax in January 2011, the Uruguayan forward very quickly became a fan favourite with his flair, creativity, and hunger for goals.
His best season came in 2013-14, when he very much single-handedly carried Liverpool to the verge of winning the Premier League title.
He scored 31 goals in 33 Premier League games, despite missing the first five matches through suspension, winning the Premier League Golden Boot and the PFA Player of the Year award.

Despite only spending three and a half seasons at Anfield, he scored 82 goals in 133 appearances, many of them spectacular.
Following the heartbreak of narrowly missing out on the title, Suárez joined Barcelona in the summer of 2014 for £75m, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most gifted forwards ever to wear the Liverpool shirt.
