NBA Trade Rumors are Just That When it Comes to the San Antonio Spurs

It takes two to tango, and the San Antonio Spurs don't seem interested in asking anyone to dance.

Despite having just a 6.3 percent chance to move up to the second overall pick, the NBA Draft lottery was friendly to the Spurs, and they are expected to draft Dylan Harper second overall.

In his lone college season at Rutgers, Harper averaged 19.4 points and four assists. It's easy to see why San Antonio covets him, and the Spurs aren't the only team with interest.

The Utah Jazz, Brooklyn Nets, New Orleans Pelicans, Philadelphia 76ers, and now the Washington Wizards have all been linked in trade rumors to move up to the second pick, although their interest has been met with scorn from the Spurs. San Antonio seemingly has no interest in trading the second pick, no matter what the package entails.

When accounts based on aggregation on social media announce "reports" that the Nets (or anyone else) is interested in a player or asset, one has to remember that the team who currently holds that asset might not be interested in parting with it, and talks stall before they even get off the ground.

The only player in the NBA that the Spurs would entertain trading the second pick for is Giannis Antetokounmpo, although the Greek Freak is yet to request a trade and will likely stay with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Until concrete evidence emerges that the Spurs are engaged in trade talks rather than just being bombarded with offers, expect the Silver and Black to stay the course.
