On Friday, The Telegraph revealed that Newcastle have no interest in selling Alexander Isak and will demand a near-world record fee (£200m the current record) for anyone who attempts to sign him.

That is reassuring, but the player’s standpoint could also play a key role, as is often the case in modern-day football.

Fortunately, there is nothing to suggest our main man wants out, with a new report today emphasising that point to play down a potential move to Merseyside.

North East reporter Luke Edwards has been discussing Alexander Isak’s current stance on a potential move away from Newcastle United, offering a reassuring update from the player’s camp.

It’s believed Isak has ‘never agitated’ to leave or given any indication that he could, while those close to the Swede ‘do not expect him to suddenly demand an exit.’

Considering Liverpool fans (on social media at least) seem to think player power will kick in and Isak will look to force a move, it seems they may be dissapointed!

A snippet from Edwards’ piece for The Telegraph states: _‘Isak has not said he wants to leave, he has never agitated to do so or given any indication, even to team-mates, that he wishes to depart. Things can always change in this respect but those who know Isak do not expect him to suddenly demand an exit._

_‘That is not the same thing as saying he wants to stay at Newcastle for the rest of his career. It does not even mean he will sign the contract extension he will be offered later this summer. But in terms of a transfer in this window, the chances of it happening are extremely remote.’_

Speaking ahead of the Carabao Cup final, where we ironically beat Liverpool to lift the trophy, Isak made his feelings known amid talk around his future.

“I am happy here and we’re contenders for titles, which is what you want as a football player. The chances are there (to win things).” he told the local media alongside Bruno Guimaraes.

In previous interviews, he’s also been quoted saying: “I’ve described how much I love this city, the club and how much I like it there”.

Things can change – if we missed out on the Champions League I would be far more worried – but right now, he doesn’t sound like a man ready to push for a move, and why would he?
