Nottingham Forest’s £30m double deal for Botafogo’s Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha will trigger a pair of sales that will see the club nearly make their money back.
Forest are expected to bring in striker Jesus and defender Cunha when Botafogo’s involvement at the Club World Cup concludes.
From there, the Telegraph report that the transfers of goalkeeper Matt Turner and midfielder Danilo to Lyon will accelerate.
Both Botafogo and Lyon are owned by American businessman John Textor, explaining the link between the pairs of transfers.
Based on reported transfer fees, Forest could make £27m combined for the sales of Danilo and Turner.
That figure would be a welcome boost following the Jesus and Cunha arrivals and will help with further transfers to come this summer.
Midfielder Danilo was limited to just 13 appearances this past season because of injury, having played a key role the year before.
Turner, meanwhile, has not played for the club since February 2024, spending the past campaign on loan at Crystal Palace.
They are among a handful of players expected to leave the City Ground this season, alongside Josh Bowler, Lewis O’Brien and Andrew Omobamidele.
A number of high-profile Forest players have been linked with exits, most notably Morgan Gibbs-White and Anthony Elanga.
But the club hope to keep hold of their star names ahead of a return to European football next term.
They also want to extend the contracts for full-backs Ola Aina and Neco Williams which would avoid potential free transfers for the duo next summer.
