An insight into the reaction of those behind the scenes at La Liga champions Barcelona to news of Bayern Munich’s fresh push for the signature of Nico Williams has this weekend been provided.
German heavyweights Bayern have of course long been credited with a keen interest in wide-man Nico’s services.
At one point in the summer, in fact, the Bavarians were considered the outright frontrunners for his signature.
The last week, however, has seen a new favourite emerge in the Nico sweepstakes – Barcelona.
After fresh talks were kicked into gear with the 22-year-old and his agent, an agreement on the terms of a contract was quickly found.

And this accord, evidently, has left Deco and the Camp Nou hierarchy feeling altogether confident when it comes to their chances of ultimately landing Nico this summer.
As per a report from Marca, after Bayern touched base with the Spanish international’s camp over the last couple of days:
‘Barça remain calm and convinced that he will shine in Barcelona. In fact, they are turning a deaf ear to reports coming out of Germany that the Munich club are preparing a new offensive for the Athletic Club attacker.’
