Manchester City advancing in talks to poach highly-rated Tottenham starlet

Manchester City are pushing forward in their pursuit of one of Tottenham’s brightest academy stars, with talks progressing over a deal that could see a highly-rated 16-year-old make the switch from North London to the Etihad.

Of course, Tottenham Hotspur have some bright academy prospects within their youth ranks. This season, we have seen Mikey Moore come through the ranks, earning a few senior appearances for the Spurs first team.

In fact, back in May, Spurs U17s got their hands on the Premier League Cup trophy for the second time in three years, and as such, a few of their youngsters have caught the attention of other sides in England.

We reported a month ago that Manchester United had their eyes on Dexter Oliver, who is in Tottenham’s Under-17 team.

The teenager was handed a new two-year deal by Spurs but refused to sign the contract, hence sparking interest from not just United but fellow Manchester rivals, Manchester City.

Dexter Oliver’s development and Spurs future in doubt

Dexter Oliver is a centre-forward who is also capable of playing on the right and left in attack and also in midfield.

The youngster did impress in the U17s run to Premier League Cup glory, scoring a brace against Derby County in the semi-final back in February.

Of course, while Tottenham would not want to lose a youngster to a fellow big six rival, it looks the teenager himself is open to leaving N17, having turned down a contract extension.
