Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has been linked with a shock move to Everton this transfer window.

David Moyes will be without Ashley Young next season, and the Toffees evidently need to bolster their defence in the coming weeks.

Jake O’Brien featured at right-back at Goodison Park after the Scottish manager, but it will be interesting to see what role he will play next season.

Alex Crook revealed Moyes admires Walker, and Sean Dyche has shared his verdict on the English defender’s potential transfer to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Walker quality obvious as Everton need professional depth in squad

Walker’s qualities are “quite obvious” amid interest from the Toffees, Dyche says.

The ex-Blues coach believes Moyes could do with more professional depth in his squad that the likes of Young and Seamus Coleman have provided over the years.

Dyche hailed the 35-year-old right-back’s attitude and success at Man City, but what the future holds for him remains to be seen.

Speaking on talkSPORT (21 June, 14:38), the English manager said: “They’re probably at that stage where they still need that kind of professional depth of some players. We had it with Young and obviously Coleman.

“Walker, I don’t know him personally, but the way he conducts himself, his history and depth of knowledge of the game are quite obvious.”

Moyes will be more hopeful of Walker transfer as Jack Grealish transfer also wanted

The Friedkin Group (TFG) could potentially make Jack Grealish their marquee signing in the ongoing transfer window, but it seems unrealistic due to his price tag and possible wages.

Walker’s prospective move to Bramley-Moore Dock looks much more plausible in comparison due to his age situation at the Etihad Stadium.

The 35-year-old was sent on loan to AC Milan in the winter transfer window, and his future looks away from Man City.

Everton could use Walker as a short-term solution for the right-hand side of the defence, and TFG should pursue him if they can agree on a decent fee with the Cityzens.

While the England international hasn’t been at his best in recent months, he may still be able to contribute at the Merseyside outfit.

Moyes arguably requires several signings this summer and could opt to acquire Walker as a cost-effective alternative, focusing on a long-term replacement at right-back next year.

While TFG should undoubtedly look to reduce the average age of the squad, a player of the Man City defender’s experience could be pivotal in the coming months at the Toffees.
