Fabrizio Romano shares ‘interesting’ Marc Guehi to Liverpool update as Jarell Quansah leaves Anfield

Liverpool have got through plenty of incoming transfer business already this summer, and now, it’s time to focus on some outgoings.

Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz have already signed for Liverpool, and Milos Kerkez is set to follow suit.

Now, Liverpool need to think about selling a few players, and that process appears to have begun.

Darwin Nunez is set to leave Liverpool, while Jarell Quansah is headed to Bayer Leverkusen.

With Quansah on his way out, Liverpool need to consider a replacement, and Marc Guehi has been linked to the Reds.

Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Guehi’s situation amid his links to Liverpool.

Fabrizio Romano shares Marc Guehi to Liverpool update

Romano did confirm that Guehi is indeed one of the players who Liverpool admire.

The journalist noted that Guehi could be available for what he describes as an ‘interesting’ transfer fee this summer as he heads into the final year of his contract.

Tottenham bid £70m for Guehi in January, but now, he could be available at a discounted rate.

“I don’t think they’re done. Liverpool will continue to look at opportunities and outgoings are important,” Romano said.

“To clarify on that, Jarell Quansah will be a Bayer Leverkusen player. That is my understanding. There are some details to clarify, but they are negotiating £30m plus add-ons.

“Liverpool will look for a centre-back, they wanted Dean Huijsen but he ended up at Real Madrid. Now Liverpool will look at different options, one of the players they like is Marc Guehi at Crystal Palace who is not extending his contract.

“It could be an opportunity, in one year he could be a free agent, so the transfer fee could be interesting this summer, so let’s see what’s going to happen.”

Liverpool’s most expensive centre-back signings

Guehi will be available for what is said to be an ‘interesting’ fee, but he certainly won’t be cheap.

Indeed, while a discount may be available owing to his contract situation, Guehi surely won’t be allowed to leave for peanuts.

Guehi will be one of the most expensive centre-backs Liverpool have ever signed. After all, the Reds haven’t historically spent massive money on defensive additions.

Liverpool’s most expensive centre-back signings Fee

Virgil van Dijk £75m

Ibrahima Konate £36m

Dejan Lovren £20m

Mamadou Sakho £17m

Guehi could well be Liverpool’s second-most expensive centre-back signing of all-time if a deal gets done, and it will be interesting to see if the Reds do indeed proceed and push for this transfer.
