The Golden Boy is an extremely respected and coveted award. It is given to the best young players in the world on a yearly basis.

Manchester United have a deep history in this award with previous winners of the award including Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial.

Now, it has been officially announced by Manchester United that current duo Kobbie Mainoo and Leny Yoro have been nominated for the award.

Kobbie Mainoo is nominated for the second year in a row with another successful season – even with the midfielder being injured for some of this season.

However, even with his injury, Mainoo was able to play in 25 games during the Premier League season.

In contrast, this is Leny Yoro’s first time being nominated for the award as a United player. During the 2024-25 season, he was able to play in 33 games across all competitions. However, his goal against Lyon arguably is his standout moment from the season.

Whilst not a starting centre-back, his impact during the 2024-25 season can not be understated.

If you want to vote for either Kobbie Mainoo or Leny Yoro, you can do so via this link.

This is the second consecutive year that two United have been nominated for the award with Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo going up for the award last year. However, the duo lost out to world superstar Lamine Yamal.

If Mainoo or Yoro were to win this award, it would mean they would gain immense respect within the footballing community as well as the acknowledgement of the footballing world of their high level of talent.

However, with other big names from across the world of football also being nominated for the award, it will be harder than ever to win the award.
