Report: £60m star is now 'in talks' with another top European club despite promise to Chelsea

Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho are said to be two targets for Chelsea right now, with the Conference League winners in desperate need of a new winger.

With Jadon Sancho returning to Manchester United and Mykhailo Mudryk unlikely to see the pitch any time soon, it is a position where Chelsea are extremely light.

Chelsea did try to snap up Gittens in the last transfer window, but the Blues could not agree a deal with Borussia Dortmund.

They remain interested in him but could now face competition from one of Europe’s biggest clubs for his signature.

Bayern Munich in talks with Jamie Gittens

Enzo Maresca wants Chelsea to sign a winger during this transfer window, and Gittens appears to be the wide man they have settled on.

During the week, Fabrizio Romano shared that Gittens is Chelsea’s priority for the winger position.

However, Bayern Munich could now ruin their plans to bring him in, with Kicker reporting that their sporting director Max Eberl has been “in talks” with the 20-year-old.

With Gittens playing for Bayern’s league rivals Dortmund, Eberl has been able to see the English youngster up close and personal and what he is capable of.

Gittens scored in Dortmund’s 1-1 draw with the German champions last November, which perhaps did not go unnoticed. It is thought that Dortmund currently value Gittens at £60m.

Jamie Gittens only wanted Chelsea

Chelsea will be disappointed if Gittens ends up joining Bayern this summer. According to Romano, Gittens’ plan was to sign for Chelsea, while it has also been widely reported that the England Under-21 international already has an agreement in place with the Blues.

His heart may still very well be set on a move to Stamford Bridge. But if the player has spoken to Bayern, which does seem to be the case, then nothing can be ruled out.

If Chelsea are still desperate to sign the Dortmund star, then they better move quickly and finally wrap up this deal.
