With Jaire Alexander officially a member of the Baltimore Ravens, look for the Jalen Ramsey trade talks to heat up. One of the best cornerbacks of his generation, the 30-year-old Ramsey is no longer the dominant force he was at his peak, but he remains an above-average starter for the right team. Unfortunately, that team is not the Miami Dolphins, as the player and organization have both agreed that it’s best to part ways, and the coaching staff is speaking about him in the past tense.
While he is technically still a Miami Dolphins, everyone knows it’s only a matter of time before the Dolphins trade Jalen Ramsey to a new team. During a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, ESPN insider Adam Schefter predicted that a West Coast team will acquire the seven-time Pro Bowler. Even though he didn’t specifically name any teams, it’s safe to assume that the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers are the two frontrunners for his services.

Schefter: Rams, Chargers Could Trade For Jalen Ramsey
Jalen Ramsey spent part of four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, so it’s no surprise Sean McVay’s club is the frontrunner in the trade rumors. After narrowly losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Divisional Round last year, Los Angeles knows it’s not far away from hoisting another Lombardi Trophy. However, they also know they’re on borrowed time, as quarterback Matthew Stafford isn’t getting any younger.
A Jalen Ramsey trade shouldn’t require too much draft capital, which is good news for a team like Los Angeles. While they have two first-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, they’ll likely try to save both selections to move up and land their quarterback of the future next year. Sending a mid- to late-round pick for Ramsey shouldn’t impact their ability to land a franchise quarterback in the future, and his presence will increase their odds of winning it all and sending Stafford out on a high note.
More Homes In LA
Of course, the Rams aren’t the only LA team that could use another cornerback to increase their championship odds. After inheriting a bloated roster with several unsavory contracts, head coach Jim Harbaugh guided the Los Angeles Chargers to the playoffs while shedding several ugly deals. Armed with an absurd amount of cap space, Harbaugh and company spent the offseason upgrading the trenches and running game, notably spending big on right guard Mekhi Becton.
The Chargers will be better in 2025 than they were in 2024, but they could still use another cornerback. 2024 fifth-round pick Tarheeb Still looks like the real deal, but this team must find another reliable starter if they want to slow down the elite passing attacks of the AFC. Jalen Ramsey could be the man for the job, and this team should have no qualms about a trade as they compete in one of the game’s most competitive divisions.
