Jadon Sancho Man United transfer stance clear as 'priority' emerges after 'contact'

Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho is attracting interest from both Juventus and Napoli

Jadon Sancho has reportedly been the subject of an approach from Juventus this week, but the winger is said to be prioritising a move to a different club following his return to Manchester United from Chelsea.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Stamford Bridge, but Enzo Maresca's side chose not to activate their £25million option to make the move permanent. Instead, Chelsea paid a £5m penalty fee to send him back to M16.

However, Sancho is unlikely to have a future under Ruben Amorim - though fortunately, he has been attracting interest elsewhere. Napoli is among one of the clubs credited with an interest and The Manchester Evening News understands that Sancho is willing to accept a move to Italy.

Sources indicate that Sancho’s representative, Emeka Obasi, explored potential opportunities in Germany - where Sancho previously had two spells with Borussia Dortmund but the Bundesliga is no longer being considered.

United are seeking a fee similar to the one Chelsea initially agreed to pay, despite his underwhelming spell in west London.

Sky Sports Italy has also reported that Sancho’s preference is to join Antonio Conte’s Napoli, as the Serie A giants were the first team to express their interest. The report also claims that Juventus have 'contacted' United 'by phone' this week, but Sancho’s 'promise' to Napoli reputedly still stands.

Talks were held between the Reds and Juventus over Sancho last summer, but no agreement was reached. His reported £300,000-a-week salary is also believed to be a stumbling block for both Italian clubs.

United enjoy a strong relationship with Napoli following Scott McTominay’s transfer last summer, and Conte has a track record of signing Premier League players for his Serie A sides. He signed Romelu Lukaku in 2019, as well as Ashley Young and Alexis Sanchez from United.

Christian Eriksen and Victor Moses also joined Conte's then-club Inter Milan from Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea respectively, while Scott McTominay’s Scotland teammate Billy Gilmour made the move to Napoli last year too.
