Manchester United 2025 Transfer Tracker: Latest Rumors&Done Deals

The summer transfer window is in full swing, and Manchester United are once again at the center of it all. With new manager Ruben Amorim at the helm and INEOS driving a new recruitment strategy, the Red Devils are expected to be active on both the incoming and outgoing fronts. From potential blockbuster exits like Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford to fresh links with players like Emiliano Martínez and Xavi Simons, this window could reshape United’s future.

In this live tracker, we’ll break down every key rumor, deal, and development — updated regularly with the latest reports and analysis. Whether it’s a quiet rebuild or a dramatic overhaul, we’re keeping tabs on every name linked with a move in or out of Old Trafford in 2025.

Emiliano Martínez to Manchester United

Aston Villa’s goalkeeper, Emiliano Martínez, is reportedly pushing for a move to Manchester United. United’s new manager, Ruben Amorim, is said to be a long-time admirer of Martínez, viewing him as a potential replacement for André Onana, who may be heading to Monaco after a series of underwhelming performances. Villa are reportedly seeking a £40 million fee for the World Cup-winning goalkeeper.

Martinez is one of the most proven goalkeepers in world football. He’s been a starter in the Premier Legaue for several seasons at Aston Villa and was the hero of Argentina’s World Cup triumph in 2022.

Manchester United have grown frustrated with Andre Onana in goal, and while there are a number of other talented options for the Red Devils, such as underrated Serie A standouts Marco Carnesecchi and Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, Martinez is by far the biggest splash United could make in goal.

The issue is the price tag. Martinez is a big name and Villa have ambitions on being a big team, so they think they can get 40 million pounds out of a Manchester United side that has been quite cavalier with their spending on the market.

While Martinez is good, he isn’t coming off his best season and is 32 years old now. When he’s at his best, he is actually worth more than 40 million pounds, but at his age and coming off the season that he is, United should try to get him for a bit cheaper, considering Mike Maignan is valued at 25 million.

Jadon Sancho’s Exit Looms

Jadon Sancho is at the center of a transfer tug-of-war involving Juventus and Napoli. After a loan spell at Chelsea last season, Sancho has returned to United, who are now open to letting him go due to manager Ruben Amorim’s decision not to reintegrate him into the squad. Juventus have recently opened discussions with United regarding a potential transfer, while Napoli is directly negotiating with Sancho’s representatives.

Although Jadon Sancho was a world-class winger for Borussia Dortmund, even leading the struggling side to a Champions League Final appearance in 2024 after out-dueling PSG’s Kylian Mbappe in the semifinals, he has been woeful for Manchester United and has shown no interest in even playing for the club.

Sancho simply doesn’t fit Ruben Amorim’s plans as an out-and-out winger either, considering the Portuguese manager plays with wing backs in a back three system.

Clearly, Sancho needs to go somewhere he can fit, feel confident, and pay regularly. He has to be willing to take a paycut and join a club that is a step down in prestige, and Napoli could be an ideal fit, considering they just recently turned former Manchester United flop Scott McTominay into the literal MVP of Serie A.

As for Manchester United, they already have a new star in town in hat-trick hero Amad Diallo, who is a better team player for the Red Devils and a much better fit for Amorim’s system.

Bryan Mbeumo’s Potential Move

Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo is reportedly a target for Manchester United. The club is said to be monitoring the winger’s situation as they look to bolster their attacking options. Mbeumo’s versatility and recent form have made him an attractive prospect for United’s revamped squad.

Last season, Mbeumo broke out of nowhere to score 20 goals with 7 assists for Brentford, ranking him as one of the best attacking players in the entire Premier League.

Capable of scoring, creating, and holding up play, Mbeumo is a right winger who plays like a striker and has the positional versatility to play anywhere up front for United, which would make him a perfect partner-in-crime for a great attacker Man United already signed, Matheus Cunha.

Given Liverpool just spent upwards of 100 million euros on Florian Wirtz and most established attacking players in the Premier League with 20 goals and 7 assists on their ledger from a non-striker position would command a high fee, around 60-70 million pounds for Mbeumo is a reasonable investment for Manchester United.

For Mbeumo, the main key would be avoiding the pitfall that has claimed so many other big-money transfers to Manchester United, including more expensive ones like Jadon Sancho and Antony. Succeeding in the Premier League with Brentford is one thing, but Mbeumo will have to prove he’s ready for the pressure cauldron that is Old Trafford. Apparently, he is welcoming the challenge.

Marcus Rashford’s Future Uncertain

Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United is in doubt, with Newcastle United reportedly interested in acquiring the forward. Rashford’s high wages may limit options in Serie A, making Newcastle’s Champions League status an appealing destination for the England international.

Although Rashford used to be a vital player to Manchester United and there was once a time when it seemed impossible for the homegrown star to leave Old Trafford, the England international is almost completely discarded by Ruben Amorim.

The new manager has repeatedly and publicly slammed Rashford, who has an unwanted reputation at the club after once being a hero. After a mediocre loan spell at Aston Villa, Rashford only proved to Amorim that he has no future with the club.

If anything, Newcastle would be a dream move for Rashford, who seems to attach himself to prestige. Realistically, Barcelona won’t want him and have already chosen the younger – and better – Nico Williams as their priority right-footed left wing target.

Meanwhile, the Magpies qualified for the Champions League next season, have Saudi Arabia’s resources, and have a penchant for getting the most out of players. Rashford would be in a better position to achieve prestige and make a name for himself at Newcastle than anywhere else.

Rashford’s exit from Manchester United is fully expected and would have a minimal impact on the team’s situation on the pitch. His contributions were effectively non-contributory. If anything, the club will benefit psychologically from shedding a media magnet and a vestige of their years of failure post-Sir Alex Ferguson.

Xavi Simons on United’s Radar

RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United. The 22-year-old midfielder, who joined Leipzig from PSG in January, is valued at €70 million. United are reportedly among the clubs monitoring his situation closely.

Simons is one of the most talented young midfielders in world football and can play almost any position at a high level. He has recorded a combined 18 assists in his first two Bundesliga seasons, making him one of the best creative box-to-box profiles in the world right now.

With 1.6 combined tackles and interceptions per game, Simons can bring to Amorim the combination of creativity and industry that Manchester United so desperately need in the middle of the park to help out the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Manuel Ugarte, and the young Kobbie Mainoo.

There are few midfielders in the world who can score goals, assist, run back and forth, and provide the individual skill in one-on-ones that Simons does, and if it takes 70 million euros to sign him, that’s, quite frankly, money well-spent for a Manchester United side that has been too sub-standard in midfield over the last decade in the Premier League.

Simons may only be 22, but he’s a nailed-on starter for almost any team in the Premier League, particularly a club that could only muster a 16th-placed finish. He’s more dynamic than any of the midfielders currently in the squad, and aside from Fernandes, he’s also more productive than all of them.

Hugo Ekitike Linked with United

Manchester United have reportedly initiated talks with Eintracht Frankfurt regarding a move for striker Hugo Ekitike. The 22-year-old forward is said to be on United’s radar as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.

First and foremost, Manchester United need goals, and after investing in two young strikers who didn’t have a real goal-scoring record in former Serie A stars Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, Ekitike is a step further in the goal-scoring direction while still maintaining some all-around ability.

Last season, Ekitike started the campaign as the sidekick to current Manchester City star Omar Marmoush before becoming “The Guy” in Germany’s financial capital after the Egyptian star moved to the Etihad.

Ekitike scored 15 goals with 8 assists, and that’s a lot more production than can be said for either Hojlund or Zirkzee in any of their seasons in any league. The Frenchman would walk into the Manchester United starting lineup and be both a better finisher and creator than the current options.

Although Victor Osimhen would be more of a transformative signing for Manchester United, Ekitike has more upside at 23, and because he’s already so much better than United’s current options, he could still have a transformational impact on the team.

Andre Onana’s Move to Monaco?

Andre Onana’s future at Manchester United is uncertain, with reports suggesting that Monaco are exploring the conditions of a deal to sign the goalkeeper. Onana joined United last season but has faced criticism for his performances, leading to speculation about a potential move away from Old Trafford.

Once one of the best keepers in Italian football and a Champions League Finalist, Andre Onana’s reputation has steadily fallen under the high pressure environment of Old Trafford, as he bottomed out in the 2024/25 season with a save percentage below 70.

Any team with designs of finishing in the top five of a highly competitive Premier League needs a goalkeeper they can trust, and Onana has proven highly untrustworthy, performing worse despite a strong summer investment in defensive quality last year.

Manchester United spent nearly 50 million pounds to sign Onana from Inter Milan, and he’s less than halved his value. Now that he’s nearing 30, this is the only time to sell Onana and replace him, as Man United have realized quite clearly that they need someone better in goal to compete at the highest level.

As for Onana, Monaco could be the best situation for him. He has thrived in situations where he is overlooked, an underdog, or come in with no expectations, whether that was at Ajax or in his incredible comeback to football in Milano.

Tolu Arokodare Impresses United Scouts

Genk striker Tolu Arokodare has reportedly impressed Manchester United scouts, with the club considering a move for the Nigerian forward. Arokodare’s goal-scoring prowess has caught the attention of United’s recruitment team as they look to bolster their attacking options.

At 6’5″, Arokodare is a physically imposing and strong striker, and at the age of 23, he scored 17 goals for Genk in the Belgian top flight to bring an unlikely title back to the historic side.

It was a remarkable league season for Arokodare, who established him as one of the best “killers” in front of goal in the Belgian league while still providing good chance-creating actions in the final third with five assists.

Manchester United need an anchor point, and Arokodare is an intriguing, high-upside striker who has a real eye for goal, a knack for winning in the air and holding up play with his size, and even the potential for growth into a good link-up striker.

Depending on the cost of the transfer, Arokodare could be a worthwhile investment and the kind of dice roll that Man United may start trying out more often after their woeful 16th-placed finish in the Premier League.

Despite having some of the most expansive resources in world football, Manchester United have generally shied away from recruiting in smaller leagues like the Belgian top flight and even South American, though it is worth noting that a lot of their best players of the last 20 years have come from leagues outside the top five (like Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes from Sporting CP).
