Draymond Green believes the Los Angeles Lakers have become a more dangerous team after their $10 billion sale to billionaire Mark Walter. Speaking on The Draymond Green Show, he explained that the Buss family, while wealthy, often operated with financial caution due to limited resources by NBA ownership standards.
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green believes the Los Angeles Lakers are now an even bigger force to be reckoned with — all because of their record-breaking $10 billion sale.
On the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show, Green discussed the implications of the franchise’s recent ownership change with guest Baron Davis.
The Lakers were officially sold by Jeanie Buss and the Buss family to billionaire Mark Walter, making it the most expensive sale in sports history. The deal surpassed the previous high set by the Boston Celtics, who were valued at $6.1 billion earlier this year.
“When I look at this move and the Lakers selling for $10 billion to Mark Walter, you know what I say? I said, ‘Oh man, that makes the Lakers dangerous,’” Green said.

According to Green, the financial difference between the previous owners and Walter could be a game-changer for how the Lakers operate moving forward.
“The only thing ever stopping the Lakers was… by terms of NBA ownership standards, Jeanie Buss and the Buss family were one of the least wealthiest families,” Green explained.
“They had the big asset in which they just sold, but that’s kind of the source for their income.”
He emphasized that such financial limitations likely forced the Buss family to be more cautious when making decisions.
“When that is the source of your income, it’s going to run a little differently. You’re going to be more mindful,” he concluded.
