Tim Iroegbunam hasn’t played much at Everton since completing a transfer from Aston Villa last summer.

The Toffees signed the 21-year-old from the Villans, but fitness issues led to his lack of game time at Goodison Park last season.

David Moyes has lost Abdoulaye Doucoure, and that could potentially see the young English midfielder step up to take his spot in the starting lineup.

With Idrissa Gueye’s future at the Hill Dickinson Stadium also uncertain, one would think the former Villa ace may be pivotal for the Blues, but an exit could be on the cards instead.

The news outlet reports (June 21) that the 21-year-old could be the subject of a move elsewhere in the coming weeks if a potential deal is pursued.

It’s been claimed that along with the English midfielder, Nathan Patterson may also be of interest this summer.

Moyes won’t want to lose more depth from the engine room, and it remains to be seen what the future holds for the Blues duo.

Patterson transfer more likely than Iroegbunam

Patterson was linked with a return to Rangers in the winter transfer window, but with Max Aarons on his way to Ibrox, that option seems to have faded away.

While the Scotland international showed a lot of potential at the Toffees, his recent fitness struggles have seen him lose his place in the starting lineup.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the 23-year-old leave for regular game time elsewhere, and his departure looks more plausible than others.

Everton should aim to keep Iroegbunam ahead of next season, as they need to maintain their squad depth.

With Doucoure gone and Gueye possibly leaving, the Blues can convince the 21-year-old of a better role in the upcoming campaign.

Carlos Alcaraz has signed permanently from Flamengo, but the Toffees still need more options in the middle of the park.

Harrison Armstrong should be given a chance by Moyes during pre-season after an impressive loan spell at Derby County, and he should also be kept at the Merseyside outfit if they can’t bolster their midfield this summer.

Despite James Garner’s influence at the Blues in recent months, he has a history of fitness struggles, making Iroegbunam’s continuity an evident no-brainer.
