Florian Wirtz's girlfriend has been flooded with messages of support after the midfielder completed his move to Liverpool. The German was officially unveiled at the AXA Training Centre yesterday after he joined the Reds from Bayer Leverkusen for £116m.
Arne Slot's side will pay Leverkusen an initial £100m for the 22-year-old with a further £16m in what have been termed as "aspirational bonuses". Wirtz was thrilled to confirm the move to Merseyside as he spoke about how he feels honoured to have signed for the Premier League champions.
He told the club in his first interview after the signing was completed: "I feel very happy and very proud. Finally it’s done and I was waiting for a long time – finally it’s done and I am really happy.
“I saw on Instagram and everywhere else that they (the fans) are wanting me to come so thank you for the support. I am really looking forward to playing in front of them and achieve big things together. I’m really happy to come. And sorry for the long wait!
“I just thought it was the right point in my career to make a next step. Of course I wanted to get to a club who is the top three in the world. In my opinion, Liverpool is one of them.
“I just saw myself in the best hands in Liverpool. I was really convinced by the people here, by the idea, everything that the club offers me was really good. In the end, it was also easy to decide for me to come to Liverpool.
“It was not that easy for me because I’m a German player, I play for Germany national team so it was not easy for me to decide. But I think the talks with the coach (Slot), Richard (Hughes) and everybody from the start, from the very first time, was so good and it kept going like this.
“All the time I spoke to one of the club, I felt like this is a place I want to be. In the end I was really 100% convinced that I want to join Liverpool. I saw it as the best choice.”

He continued: “I think I was the first one in my family who is really into this club. When they spoke to us, told us that they were interested in signing me, I didn’t expect that Liverpool would be my next club.
"But my family was supporting me and I didn’t have to convince them about the club. Everything was so good. I wanted to join a different league. In the end, my family will love to come here and spend time with me here in the stadium. They will like it here as well. I'm really looking forward to play in the stadium in front of the fans. It will be exciting.
“I see this also as an opportunity for me to get better in this point. So yeah, I just thought this was the right place for me.” Liverpool FC fans are excited after the statement signing was completed as the Reds have bolstered the league title winning squad with one of the most in-demand players in football.
Wirtz keeps his life away from the pitch private as his social media channels solely consist of content from his professional life. However, he is in a happy relationship with Aaliyah Mohamed away from the pitch.
The influencer model was regularly in the stands to watch Wirtz at Bayer Leverkusen and was an ever-present in the terraces to watch Germany during the Euro 2024 championships last year.
Although the two largely keep their romance private, Aaliyah has amassed a huge following on TikTok as she posts fashion updates. Reds fans from across the goal have found her account @AaliyahCL - and rushed to the comments of her latest post from this month on June 12.
Aaliyah shared a short clip with her 118,400 followers with the caption: "Rock Your Body." Now Wirtz's move has been confirmed and he will be plying his trade in L4 next season, fans took to the comments to wish the couple well on their arrival to Merseyside.
