Giulia Dragoni suffered a torn deltoid ligament in her right ankle, ruling her out of the UEFA [Women’s EURO 2025](https://womenfootball.blog/womens-euro-2025/). She is expected to return to the pitch in September. Alessandro Orlandi, her FIFA agent, spoke to AS about her injury, development, and long-term ambitions.
At just 18 years old, Dragoni is currently on loan at AS Roma from FC Barcelona, with a contract running until 2027. According to Ángel Pérez, Barça sees her as a key player for the future, though another loan spell is being considered. For now, Dragoni is fully focused on her recovery.
“In a matter of seconds, my season ended — suddenly and without warning… Fortunately, the surgery went well. Thank you all so much for the messages. I feel lucky to have such a skilled medical team behind me, and people who care about me and are looking after me. I can’t wait to get back to doing what I love the most. For now, I just want to wish my teammates the best of luck for Saturday’s final,” Dragoni said.
During her season with AS Roma, Dragoni made 32 appearances, totaling 1,601 minutes, scoring six goals and providing two assists. While her injury was a setback, her agent remains optimistic:
“Giulia is doing well, and we’re really pleased. The injury was unexpected, but we’ll see her back on the pitch in September. She’ll return even more determined. Of course, it’s a shame she’ll miss the EURO, but thankfully she has a long career ahead of her,” says Orlandi.
**On her ambitions**: “It’s her clear ambition and desire to return to Barcelona’s first team and to work toward becoming a key player in the future. Beyond her talent, Giulia is a hard worker. As I said, we’re taking the right steps—calibrated and gradual.”
