Ranking the 10 top-performing Texas Longhorns' student-athletes for 2024-25

**AUSTIN, Texas — [Texas](https://247sports.com/college/texas/)** just wrapped up its fourth Director's Cup win in five years, an award honoring the nation's top-performing athletic department based on NCAA Championship finishes in a total of 19 sports with four required counters (men's and women's basketball, volleyball and soccer).

So, we've ranked the 10 top-performing athletes at Texas for the 2024-25 school year.

**10\. (Tie) TRE JOHNSON, basketball/MARG VAN DER WAL, rowing**

Van der Wal, a key contributor to Texas rowing's national championships in 2023 and 2024, this season became a key leader as a junior in helping the Longhorns to a podium finish at the NCAA Championships (finishing third) in 2025.

Rowing in the sixth seat in Texas' First Varsity Eight, Van der Wal was named CRCA First Team All-America, SEC Rower of the Year and SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

She became the 11th Longhorn in program history to receive First Team All-America honors in multiple years.

**Tre Johnson** was every bit the scorer the Longhorns hoped he'd be as a freshman, leading the team and the SEC with a 19.9 points-per-game average. Johnson, who averaged 3.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 2025, shot 42.7% from the floor, 39.7% from 3-point range and 87.1% from the free-throw line.
