Arsenal are weighing up a “cut-price” move for Brentford captain Christian Norgaard, according to reports.
With Thomas Partey now expected to leave when his contract expires at the end of the month, the Gunners have been looking at possible replacements.

The Mirror claim that Norgaard has been identified as a potential option due to the fact that he won’t cost a great deal to sign despite still having two years left on his contract.
Some supporters may question why the London club are looking at buying a 31-year-old but he has arguably been one of the best-performing holding midfielders in the Premier League over the past twelve months.
Norgaard has been likened to a prime Fabinho
Speaking back in 2021, Bees boss Thomas Frank made the bold claim that the Danish international would fit comfortably into Liverpool’s midfield:
“I think Christian is a late bloomer, and I’m very, very pleased that he’s playing for Brentford because I think if you took him out and put him into Liverpool, and changed the two players, Fabinho and him, I don’t think you’d see much difference.”
Since those comments, Norgaard has gone on to make 196 appearances for the Bees, as well as being handed the captain’s armband.
What is the latest on Partey’s future at Arsenal?
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that talks over a new contract have stalled. It was hoped that the Ghanaian international would agree to extend his stay at the Emirates beyond the summer.
However, it is believed that negotiations have run into difficulties due to Partey’s salary demands. The Gunners were hoping that the midfielder would be prepared to take a pay cut but it seems the player is not willing to agree to such an arrangement.
