“One To Watch”–New Twist As Liverpool Are Backed To Sign 3rd Bundesliga Player (With£77M Clause) After Wirtz

Liverpool’s pursuit of RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba is “one to watch” according to the Daily Mail reporter Lewis Steele.

The journalist has built a good reputation when it comes to transfer stories related to the Reds, and he says the Frenchman is a player who could be targeted this summer.

Numerous sources have raised the prospect of Arne Slot’s side signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace to replace Jarell Quansah.

However, there are still doubts over whether the England international would be prepared to make the switch to Anfield if he is not guaranteed a place in the starting eleven.

Lukeba would cost more than Guehi

The Leipzig centre-back would be the third player from the Bundesliga to move to Merseyside, following the arrivals of Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

Fans shouldn’t get too far ahead of themselves, though, as Lukeba is unlikely to be available on the cheap. His release clause is set at an eyewatering €90m (£77m).

Leipzig won’t feel the need to sell him for a lower price either, with the 22-year-old having also attracted the interest of Chelsea and Manchester United in recent months. Guehi is expected to be available for a lower amount considering he is out of contract next year.

Quansah’s exit from Liverpool looks almost certain

Any move for a centre-half is contingent on a player leaving Anfield. Leverkusen are set to secure the signature of the England Under-21 international imminently.

Reports in the German media claim that Quansah will undergo a medical next week, with the player poised to put pen to paper on a 5-year contract with the Bundesliga side. His transfer fee is said to be in excess of £30m, including add-ons.
