Philippe Coutinho is finally poised to leave Aston Villa, nearly two years after his last game for the club. The 33-year-old Brazilian hasn't played for Unai Emery's team since August 2023, yet astonishingly, he still has a year left on his contract at Villa Park.
However, Vasco da Gama are now finalising a permanent deal for Coutinho following a season-long loan, according to the Mirror.
Although the loan didn't include a purchase option, all involved are confident that an agreement will be reached soon.
It's not ruled out that Villa could terminate Coutinho's contract, allowing the former [Liverpool](https://www.express.co.uk/latest/liverpool-fc) and Barcelona forward to join Vasco on a free transfer. This would allow Villa to save a significant amount of money over the next 12 months, as Coutinho is believed to earn around £125,000.
