Alexander Isak transfer alternative emerges as Liverpool unlikely to sanction big move

Liverpool could reportedly consider a move for Victor Osimhen this summer, with Alexander Isak likely to be out of reach.

Liverpool has already secured the services of Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, while Milos Kerkez is expected to undergo a medical next week.

Those transfers could end up costing the Reds around $250 million if the add-on clauses in the Wirtz deal are met, and Newcastle would probably demand an even higher fee for Isak than the guaranteed $135 million that the Reds agreed to pay for Wirtz.

The Magpies are under no pressure to sell Isak, having eased its PSR worries a year ago with the sales of Yankuba Minteh and Elliott Anderson, and also secured qualification for next season's Champions League.

TEAMtalk reports that Liverpool has entered the race to sign Osimhen instead as he will be available for a much lower transfer fee.

Liverpool has reportedly opened a dialogue with Napoli over signing Osimhen, with the possibility of a swap dealing involving Darwin Nunez and/or Federico Chiesa mooted.

Osimhen is said to be eager to play for a club that is competing in the Champions League and he is open to moving to Liverpool, but his salary demands could be an issue.

The Nigerian is reported to want his Napoli salary matched at whichever club he joins; Osimhen is believed to net around $11.5 million with the Serie A club, with his gross salary close to double that amount.

Liverpool could be in the market for a new striker as the Reds aim to replace Darwin Nunez, who is the subject of interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Italy, as well as Atletico Madrid.

Liverpool knocked back approaches for Nunez from clubs in Saudi Arabia during the January transfer window, but there remains a strong market for the Reds' No. 9 during the ongoing summer window.

The interest from Saudi Arabia remains, while Atletico, Napoli and AC Milan are also being linked with the 25-year-old. It's claimed that Napoli has made a verbal offer of around €43 million ($50 million) for Nunez, with Napoli said to be keen to provide support to Romelu Lukaku in its front line, and that reported bid is not far away from Liverpool's reported €50 million ($58 million) valuation of the player.

Foot Italia reports that Nunez has no intention of moving to Saudi Arabia, as he wants to remain playing at a high level in Europe.

Napoli boss Antonio Conte is said to be a fan of Nunez and believes he has a higher chance of realizing his potential away from the Premier League.
