'I'll go': Amadou Onana shares when asked who he thinks is the better player - Kevin De Bruyne…

Amadou Onana can consider himself fortunate that he has had the privilege of playing with possibly Belgium’s two greatest players: Manchester City great Kevin De Bruyne and Chelsea icon Eden Hazard.

Naturally, both Belgian greats are also often compared to each other as they spent a chunk of their careers in the Premier League and went down as bona fide legends.

There seems to be mutual respect between the pair, with Eden Hazard calling De Bruyne “special” as well as “the best player in the world” last year.

While Kevin De Bruyne lauded Hazard while speaking to Sky Sports, dubbing him as one of the five most naturally talented players to have ever played the game: “He’s so, so good. So, good.”

The former Manchester City maestro said: “I think talent-wise, he’s probably top five in the world behind [Lionel] Messi, [Cristiano] Ronaldo, Neymar probably and then Eden on his day was so good.”

The Aston Villa midfielder pondered as the question was certainly a difficult one for him to answer, considering both players were once his teammates.

But ultimately, Onana told the Inside Scoop podcast that De Bruyne was better than Eden Hazard, explaining: “It’s really difficult though. Do you know why, because they’re completely different players. KDB’s more like, through his passes and all that, Eden is more through his dribbling.”

“If I had to choose someone, I’d say KDB just because of the longevity, he’s been doing it for years and again and again and again, even though he ain’t got nothing to prove. So, I’ll go KDB. Sorry, big up, Eden.”

Judging by the stats, the Napoli midfielder has the edge over his countryman.

Being a wide player, Eden Hazard scored more goals than De Bruyne but as far as assists are concerned, he has 104 more than the former Real Madrid forward while amassing 98 more goal involvements.

However, it goes without saying that Belgium produced two special players.

Only time will tell how the masses assess which out of the two is superior.
