Manchester United’s striker search is making them travel across the European continent, and Fiorentina’s breakout striker Moise Kean has been among the names linked.
Moise Kean will be a familiar name to fans of the Premier League, as the Italian had a forgettable time of things with Everton in England.
Since then, however, a return to Italy has seen him rediscover his best form, and the 2024/25 season was a breakout for Kean.
The 25-year-old scored 25 goals in 44 games across all competitions playing for Fiorentina, and that has led to United’s renewed links to Kean.
Fiorentina legend Emiliano Viviano has sent the player a clear message that won’t make Rasmus Hojlund very happy.

Moise Kean sent Man Utd transfer message
Kean joined Fiorentina at the lowest ebb of his career, playing 19 league games for Juventus in 2023/24 without scoring once.
Juventus sold him for a loss, but the player was determined to bounce back and prove his doubters wrong, which he’s done with a breakout campaign in Florence.
However, that has led to doubts as to whether the 2024/25 campaign was a false dawn or the new normal.
More United News
Club legend Emiliano Viviano sought to make it easier for Kean by asking him to stay at Fiorentina for one more year, effectively calling United a graveyard for striking talent.
He said (via Fiorentina News): “I hope the boy understands that Florence can still give him a lot: on more coveted stages, he has in fact shown that he has failed, and Fiorentina could be ideal for him for at least another year.
“Manchester’s interest? It is true that, on a sporting level, Manchester United are not shining, but they are still one of the most important clubs in the history of football, with considerable economic power.
“Lately, anyone who has gone there has done badly and I think it will be difficult for him to do worse than already done by his predecessors.”
Man Utd need a more “sure thing” than Kean
While Viviano’s comments about Man United being a graveyard for striking talent will sting, it has a layer of truth to it.
He says that it will be difficult for Kean to do worse than players already here, a clear shot at Rasmus Hojlund, but the reality is that there are red flags with Kean as well.
For starters, he needs to prove he can maintain this scoring rate for more than one season, and his struggles in England paint a risky picture, too.
United should basically take Viviano’s advice and go for more of a “sure thing”, i.e., a finished product who has proven himself at the top level consistently.
If there is one position where United absolutely cannot afford to cut corners and take shortcuts, it’s No. 9.
Kean has far too many red flags around him to be that player, and it will be in his best interests as well to stay at Fiorentina for one more year now that he finally has form and stability in his career.
