Man Utd goalkeeper Andre Onana has been linked with a move to AS Monaco this summer
The Ligue 1 outfit are said to be exploring a deal for the 29-year-old while Gianluca Di Marzio has gone as far to report that an enquiry has already been made by Monaco for Onana, who joined the Red Devils for £47.2m back in 2023.
It remains to be seen if United will move on from Onana this summer. The goalkeeper has been guilty of several errors leading to goals since his arrival and if the right offer arrives before the window shuts, they could opt to move him on - even if they cut their losses slightly.
Reports from Italy have claimed that contact has already been made with a potential Onana replacement, with United making sure they are prepared for the eventuality if their number one goalkeeper moves on.
Marco Carnesecchi targeted by Man Utd
According to reports from Italy via Gianluca Di Marzio, United have made initial contact with the agent of Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi as a potential replacement for Onana.
United’s contact has only been with the player as no approach has been made to Atalanta. Onana wants to remain with the Red Devils so United have not looked to advance their interest in Carnesecchi as of yet.
The report from Italy insists the Serie A club “would hardly be able to let him go unless there were truly satisfactory offers.”
Carnesecchi kept 18 clean sheets in 44 appearances in all competitions last season as Atalanta qualified for the Champions League. He has been contracted to Atalanta for his entire senior career but only broke into the senior side during the 2023-24 campaign.
He spent time on loan with Trapani in Serie B as well as spending time with Cremonese. He had three loan spells with the latter, with his final temporary stint coming after the club had been promoted to the Italian top flight.

Carnesecchi signed a new deal with Atalanta earlier this year, which extended his time at the club until 202. The goalkeeper was valued at around £51m back in January, per La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Former Atalanta manger Gian Piero Gasperini said of the goalkeeper this season: “He is providing extraordinary performances with some decisive saves. He is a goalkeeper who has become important, he is always ready, he has certainly been decisive in these last matches. He will still improve in his game with his feet, but he has all the numbers.”
