“Wouldn’t Be Surprised”–Arsenal Tipped To Make Shock Move For Man City And England International

Arsenal have been tipped to make a move for Manchester City attacker Phil Foden this summer.

The Gunners are hoping to add more talent in attack, as they would like to sign a winger and a striker at least. The number nine spot is the biggest priority for Mikel Arteta, with Benjamin Sesko the main target for the Gunners at the moment.

However, Arsenal have also been linked to several wingers. Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao seems to be a less likely signing now as he wants to join Barcelona, but Arsenal are still wanting to sign Real Madrid’s Rodrygo according to reports.

However, former Premier League striker Tony Cascarino believes that Arsenal will instead make a shock move to sign Phil Foden. He said whilst on talkSPORT: “Obviously Arteta worked at Man City with Phil Foden and for whatever reason, I’m sure we’ll find out down the line, Phil Foden just hasn’t been the player we know him to be this season.”

“From where he was the Football Writers’ Player of the Year the season before, his performances this year have just not justified that. But all what’s happening at City and all the spending that’s gone on, I wouldn’t be surprised if Foden is allowed to go somewhere.

“Whether City let him go Arsenal, I don’t know, but they let Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko go there. If Arsenal could get him, I think Arteta would really consider that, yeah.”

No clubs have been linked to Foden as things stand, and no reports have suggested that he may leave City this summer, but after a poor season last year, the England international may decide that he wants a new challenge.

Arsenal could instead opt for Foden’s teammate

There has been no indication that Foden is for sale, but one City player who could be available is Jack Grealish, as reports have said that Man City would be willing to sell the winger for £40m.

Arsenal could opt to bring Grealish to the Emirates to add depth on the wings, and partner him up with England teammates Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka.

So far, Arsenal haven’t been linked with the 29-year-old, he has instead been linked with Tottenham, Bayer Leverkusen, Everton and a return to Aston Villa.
