Crystal Palace are set to hand Marc Guehi an ultimatum as they want his future to be resolved early in the transfer window.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 24-year-old’s future could be key to Palace’s transfer plans.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Crystal Palace are planning to sign Ousmane Diomande, who has been linked with PSG and Chelsea, to replace Guehi.
Oliver Glasner’s side will push for their captain’s future to be decided in the coming weeks as they do not wish to be left scrambling in the late stages of the window.
However, it remains a possibility that the 24-year-old could stay with the FA Cup winners beyond the summer window and leave for free next year.
As things stand, Football Insider exclusively revealed on 20 June that Guehi wants to join Liverpool and the Reds have emerged in pole position to agree a deal.

Crystal Palace to make Marc Guehi decision after Arsenal claim
Brown told Football Insider on 21 June that Guehi could turn down offers from Arsenal and other rival clubs unless he is given assurances over his playing time.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained that Palace want the defender to make his stance clear in the coming days and weeks.
“It’s got to a point where a decision will need to be made,” he told Football Insider.
“Palace wanted to keep him and hand him a new contract, but I think it’s become clear he isn’t going to sign any new deal now.
“So they want him to make a decision quickly so that they can put plans in place.
“They don’t want all the uncertainty going on week after week: ‘Is he going, is he not going, which club is he going to go to?’
“Palace want Guehi to make a decision, either he wants to go and join somebody like Liverpool, or he’s going to stay for another year.
“He wants to play regular football, that’s the thing and that’s why he could stay.
“But from Palace’s point of view, that decision has got to be made quickly so that they can put plans in place to bring in his replacement.
“Getting £50-60million or whatever it is for him would make a big difference to what they can do.
“A lot of their business, the players they want and the money they have, could depend on Guehi going.
“If he stays, even if it’s only for the season, they’ll be keeping a top player and that won’t be an issue.
“But they don’t want him to walk away with one week left in the window and then all of a sudden they’re rushing to get other things done.”

Japhet Tanganga news emerges at Selhurst Park
Ahead of Crystal Palace’s participation in the Europa League, Glasner is keen to bolster his squad regardless of the uncertainty surrounding Guehi’s future.
The Eagles had been linked with a move to sign Millwall’s Japhet Tanganga, but Brown told Football Insider that Palace are not in the race for Tanganga.
The 26-year-old’s agent is making his availability known thanks to a £1.2 million release clause in his contract, with Leeds and Burnley both interested.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 16 June that Millwall are resigned to losing Tanganga with the three promoted clubs closely monitoring his situation.
