‘You can tell’: Amadou Onana shares what he really thought of Marcus Rashford at Aston Villa

After half a season on loan at Aston Villa, Marcus Rashford’s future is currently up in the air at Manchester United.

As it stands, it seems unlikely that Marcus Rashford will be reintroduced into Man United’s first team squad for next season.

United appear keen to move on, and whilst Aston Villa wanted to sign Rashford permanently just a few months ago, a switch to Villa Park might also be improbable.

Aston Villa are experiencing some PSR concerns and Unai Emery’s side might find it difficult to finance a deal given that they are currently trying to balance their wages to revenue calculations.

Rashford is on big wages at Old Trafford and it simply doesn’t appear possible for Monchi to mastermind a deal right now, unless something significantly changes.

Amadou Onana gives his honest Marcus Rashford verdict

That being said, Rashford’s former Aston Villa teammate Amadou Onana has now given his honest thoughts on the winger’s loan spell at the club last season.

Onana was speaking on ‘The Inside Scoop’ podcast and only had excellent things to say about the England international, even if he might not return to Villa Park.

The midfielder said it was ‘refreshing’ to see Rashford at the club, a player he could tell was of the highest level.

Onana said: “Refreshing bro, you know when someone touches the ball you can tell that they’ve been there, played at the highest level.

“If you remember the PSG vs United [match] back then, that Marcus Rashford, with some of the things he does, you just know, you’ve been there, you know what you are doing, you know what you are talking about.

“Really, really cool guy, humble guy, it’s a pleasure to share a dressing room with people like that because he’s a good guy and an amazing player and someone that I personally, with my young age, can learn a lot from.”

Aston Villa could still make a late move for Marcus Rashford

Of course, it is currently believed that Rashford wants to join Barcelona this summer, perhaps given that he wants to leave the Premier League.

However, Barcelona are set to sign Nico Williams this summer, a player who was even tentatively linked with a move to join Emery at Villa Park in the past.

And therefore Rashford’s move to Barcelona does currently appear unlikely, which might leave the door open for a late surprise.

Rashford would surely like to find a permanent solution to his future this summer but maybe another loan to work under Emery could ultimately appeal.

Villa are ready to sell players in the coming months in order to fund new arrivals, and perhaps someone like Leon Bailey leaving could inspire a surprise return for Rashford, even if it currently appears unlikely.
