Everton not prepared to pay hefty transfer fee to sign midfielder – Talks ongoing

There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Everton are still in talks to sign Fenerbahce midfielder Fred.

The Brazilian has been linked with the Premier League side over the past week, with reports Fenerbahce could offload the former Manchester United player this summer.

There have been recent reports Jose Mourinho is keen to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma and that would put question marks over Fred’s future in Istanbul.

Sabah report on the latest developments regarding Everton’s pursuit for Fred as David Moyes looks to strengthen his midfielder in this transfer window, especially with Abdoulaye Doucouré on his way out.

It’s claimed the Toffees have been in contract with the central midfielder’s agent, but they are not prepared to pay a hefty transfer fee for the 32-year-old. Fenerbahce are reportedly looking for offers in the region of €15m, which is clearly a high for a player of Fred’s age.

The Brazilian made 35 appearances under Mourinho last season, scoring five goals. He’s contracted to the Super Lig side until June 2027.
