Arsenal now trying to sign 'modern' £88m wonderkid who Kylian Mbappe admires, Real Madrid star called him 'fascinating'

Arsenal do not possess the strong French contingent they once boasted under Arsene Wenger.

The legendary French manager often had many fellow countrymen in his squad, such as Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Robert Pires, and later on, the likes of Samir Nasri, Abou Diaby and Gael Clichy.

Nowadays, Arsenal barely have any French players – William Saliba is the only one in the current side under Mikel Arteta – although Andrea Berta is now working to sign another in Warren Zaire-Emery, who Kylian Mbappe rates highly.

What Kylian Mbappe has previously said about Warren Zaire-Emery as Arsenal open talks

TBR Football understand Arsenal made contact with PSG regarding a move for Zaire-Emery earlier this week.

The Gunners have already signed Martin Zubimendi to bolster the midfield department, but with Thomas Partey set to follow Jorginho in departing, Arteta needs another option in that area.

Should a deal for Zaire-Emery, who is valued at €103m (£88m) on the CIES Football Observatory, materialise this summer, it would presumably come with the approval of Mbappe.

The Real Madrid No.9 previously called the PSG No.33 a “fascinating” talent after he earned his first call to the French national team in November 2023, with Get French Football News quoting him as saying: “He is fascinating. He is already very mature and he plays with a lot of personality.

“He is a modern midfielder, who isn’t scared of going forward with the ball. What we have to do is accompany him. I don’t have any advice to give him because he is learning very quickly and on his own.”

How PSG responded to Warren Zaire-Emery enquiry from Arsenal

Zaire-Emery, who Thierry Henry also adores, will be tough for Arsenal to sign this summer.

TBR Football understand PSG have no intention of letting their 19-year-old wonderkid leave this summer, and are in no rush to sell, seeing as he has four years remaining on his contract.

Despite slipping behind Joao Neves, Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz in the pecking order under Luis Enrique, it is understood Zaire-Emery plans to stay and fight for his place at the Parc des Princes, so Arsenal will surely need to bid a significant amount to even bring PSG to the negotiating table.
