Manchester United have made “no approach” for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez, according to the Daily Mail reporter Nathan Salt.
It has been suggested that the Red Devils could open negotiations to sign the Argentinian international within a matter of days but Salt says all the talk is coming from the keeper’s camp who are trying to get him a move to Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim’s side are actually said to be prepared to keep faith with Onana and that hasn’t gone down well with some supporters on X:

Onana staying and playing is an absolute disaster. SURELY it’s spin to protect the value of him

Onana’s going to get Ruben the sack.

If manutd are working to start the league next season with onana in goal then they are even more closer to relegation than making the CL

How can we decide to keep Onana, what is wrong with the people making decisions like this… Onana isn’t a good goalkeeper, we need clutch keepers to keep us in the game in difficult times ffs

Martinez’s asking price makes a deal difficult to secure
Despite needing to sell players in order to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules, Villa are still hoping to get a fee between £30m and £40m for their current number one. That seems like a steep price for a 32-year-old.
Martinez’s eagerness to join United may, though, hand them an important advantage if they do decide to enter negotiations.
Man United have been linked with other goalkeepers
Depending on which report you read, the Red Devils have also considered moves for the likes of Porto’s Diogo Costa and Atalanta’s Marco Carnesecchi.
Again, though, the main issue will be the cost of signing these targets. Costa has a €75m (£64m) release clause in his contract, while Carnesecchi’s valuation has been quoted as high as €50m (£43m).
In other news, Man United are interested in recruiting a £20m rated midfielder who has been compared to N’Golo Kante
