After completing a deal to sign Florian Wirtz this week, Liverpool have agreed to sell Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen.
The academy graduate will be leaving the club after 17 years at the club as he swaps Anfield for the BayArena.
After breaking through to the first team in 2023, Quansah has firmly established himself as a first team squad member, but will be looking to kick on in Germany and become a regular first team star.
Bayer Leverkusen have been looking to bring in another centre back after losing Jonathan Tah to Bayern Munich and it’s clear that they believe the Liverpool defender is more than capable of filling that hole.
Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will be Quansah’s new manager with the Bundesliga side.
In an incredible piece of business the Reds have managed to agree a fee that could rise to £35M.
Jarell Quansah is currently on international duty with England U-21 side. Despite impressing Arne Slot in the USA last summer on Liverpool’s pre season tour, Quansah failed to convince the Dutchman long term.
The 22-year-old was substituted at halftime against Ipswich Town in Slot’s debut game. It felt as though he never managed to convince Arne Slot since.
Fabrizio Romano now reports that Liverpool have agreed a deal of £30m initial fee plus £5m add-ons.
In the deal, Liverpool have also inserted a buy back clause for Jarell Quansah according to the Italian journalist.
It is incredible business by Richard Hughes and co.
Liverpool are expected to make a move to Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace once both sides can agree on a suitable fee.
This transfer marks the third transaction between the two clubs in this transfer window alone.
Whereas Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz have come in from Leverkusen, this is the first transfer of a player going back in the opposite direction.
