Manchester United pair Kobbie Mainoo and Leny Yoro have been nominated for the 2025 Golden Boy award.
Tuttosport conducts a poll every year for the best young player under the age of 21, and this year, two of Ruben Amorim’s first-team squad have been selected.
16 other Premier League players have also been named on the shortlist, including 7 players from Chelsea (Josh Acheampong, Mathis Amougou, Dario Essugo, Tyrique George, Marc Guiu, Mike Penders, Mamadou Sarr), two from Arsenal (Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri), three from Tottenham (Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, Mathys Tel), two from Brighton (Jack Hinshelwood, Charalampos Kostoulas), as well as one each from Liverpool (Armin Pecsi) and Manchester City (Juma Bah)

One Championship player (Southampton’s Tyler Dibling) has also made the 100-strong list (which fans can vote on by heading here).
Man United players have won the Golden Boy before
Club legend Wayne Rooney was handed the accolade back in 2004, which was only the second year after Tuttosport had established the award.
Brazilian midfielder Anderson won it four years later, while Anthony Martial received the honour in 2015. The current holder is (somewhat unsurprisingly) Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.
Mainoo and Yoro are not among the favourites
It is fair to say that Mainoo, in particular, has had a difficult twelve months. After bursting onto the scene with his performances for club and country during the 2023/24 season, the midfielder has found life tougher during his second campaign as a regular starter. The appointment of Amorim has not really aided his progress as hoped.
Yoro, meanwhile, also had a tough start to life at Old Trafford, having picked up an injury in preseason following his high-profile move from Lille, but he began to establish himself in the final few months of 2024/25.
