Report: Everton now eyeing move to sign 'phenomenal' Premier League striker, free to leave on…

Everton are reportedly eyeing a move for striker Evan Ferguson, with the player expected to depart from Brighton this summer, as per Football Insider.

The Friedkin Group's takeover of the club has meant that the Toffees have funds to invest as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign to accompany their switch to the new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.

Everton are expected to part ways with Dominic Calvert-Lewin following the expiry of his contract, and boss David Moyes is keen to add a new striker to his ranks as a result.

Brighton are open to loan offers

As per Football Insider, Brighton are prepared to send Ferguson on another loan move after the striker struggled to impress in his temporary switch to West Ham during the 2024/25 season. Everton are keen, alongside Nottingham Forest and Dutch outfit PSV.

Dubbed "phenomenal", Ferguson burst onto the scene in the 2022/23 season, scoring 10 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions for Brighton. Many thought he was destined for a constant upward rise, but he has struggled to match such numbers since.

The Seagulls' manager Fabian Hurzeler is yet to find confidence in the Irishman, and that saw him spend the second half of last season on loan with the Hammers.

Moyes could help Ferguson rediscover his best form in the Premier League, similar to how he helped rejuvenate Beto's career in England. The Guinea-Bissau international enjoyed some excellent form after the Scot's appointment, and he accredited much of that to his new boss.

Everton are keen to keep their options open, however. They have also registered an interest in Brazilian striker Yuri Alberto, and Newcastle talisman Callum Wilson is also thought to be on their radar.
