Marcus Rashford has declared that he would like to have the opportunity to play alongside Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal, as the former Aston Villa loanee plots his next career move in the summer transfer window.
Rashford joined Villa in January, following the departure of Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr, and he proceeded to make ten goal contributions across his Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League appearances, but his season ended prematurely because of a hamstring injury which saw him miss the run-in and their FA Cup semi-final defeat to Crystal Palace.
Rashford might've returned to Villa had they secured a second straight season of Champions League football, but having failed to in the closing stages of the competition, the chances of Rashford returning to the club on a more permanent basis this summer would appear to be pretty slim.
Indeed it's believed that Rashford favours a move to Barca, the La Liga champions and Copa del Rey winners; Hansi Flick called on Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Ferran Torres, among others, in his front-line, but Rashford would clearly relish the prospect of joining those ranks with no future at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim.
“Yes, for sure. Everyone wants to play with the best," Rashford said, as quoted by BBC Sport. "Hopefully… we’ll see.” Rashford added: “It’s difficult to put into words what [Yamal] is doing because he’s not supposed to be doing that at 16 or 17. I don’t think we’ve seen that before.”
