Former NBA Rookie of the Year could join the Mavericks

Former NBA Rookie of the Year Malcolm Brogdon has emerged as one of the top free agent options for the Dallas Mavericks this offseason.

The Dallas Mavericks will be actively exploring the free agent market this offseason as they search for a temporary replacement for Kyrie Irving, who is expected to continue rehabbing from his ACL tear suffered in March.

While veteran guard Chris Paul has surfaced as one of the top targets for the Mavs this summer, another name has emerged as a strong potential option.

According to Mavericks writer Grant Afseth, unrestricted free agent Malcolm Brogdon, who is not expected to return to the Washington Wizards, is among the players the Mavericks are closely monitoring as a possible short-term replacement for Irving.

The 32-year-old, 2017 NBA Rookie of the Year, Brogdon appeared in only 24 games this season, averaging 12.7 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds in 23.5 minutes per game.
